Audience Feedback

Shameena Dance Troupe was a wonderful surprise for us all at the Southmead Festival 2010. The group performed after the RSVP performance, a wonderfully visual dance, with beautiful shiny costumes and beautiful dancing. What a wonderful way to end our Festival! Thank you.

A wonderful evening of music & dance from across Europe & beyond.. The Guzek Trio charming as ever with their unique klezmer soundscapes, balanced out perfectly with three highly appropriate & mesmerising solo performances courtesy of the Shameena dance troupe. Thanks to all for a memorable evening.

Shameena have performed alongside RSVP Bhangra band at a number of events. It is always such a pleasure to watch their performances. Stunning costumes, graceful, fascinating dances and to add to that a fun group of women to work with. We look forward to the next time when we can mix Bhangra and Middle Eastern dance.

When Shameena came to dance at the Southbank Arts Trail for us this year I had not seen them dance before. It was quite a cold Saturday early in May and even by lunchtime people were not really venturing outdoors. When the dancers entered in costumes, it was like discovering exotic birds in your back garden! A crowd of onlookers descended from nowhere and I am convinced that the temperature warmed several degrees!
Their dancing was fascinating, very beautiful and of varied styles. When dancing as a body, they showed much individual flair and Anusha's solo was spellbinding.
Their love of dance comes straight across and their encouragement for others to join in made the event for me. They were very professional and great fun too, we can't wait to have them back!

It is always a pleasure to see Shameena: beautiful costumes and music; friendly, accessible style; and bringing traditional Arabic dance to new audiences, performed in a respectful way by local women from the South West.

Shameena is a first class oriental dance group. Their costumes are elaborate and the choreographies absolutely splendid. They create a marvellous, mystical and mysterious atmosphere for the whole show and thoroughly entertain! A professional and skilled group and we love to have them perform for us every time we have a benefit event. Thank you Shameena.

Shameena kindly performed three dances at our Grand Charity Auction which
were warmly received by a discerning audience. The dancers performed
beautifully, the graceful 'wing-dance' being particularly memorable - all
set off by pretty, colourful, high-quality, traditional dresses. They were
very popular and generated much interest and high bid.

I had the pleasure of working with Shameena on the occasion of my father’s
90th birthday party held at the Bristol museum: it had just opened its
Egyptian gallery and was the perfect setting to evoke Arabian nights. My
father, having been stationed in Egypt for part of the war, loved all
things Egyptian so Shameena was ideal! Anusha was meticulous in planning
and recommending a great band to welcome the guests whilst the dance group hid out-of-sight in unused rooms to make it a surprise and a grand opening.

It was one of the most beautiful spectacles I have ever seen - Anusha
coming down the stairs with her gold wings moving gracefully in preparation
for the Isis dance - you have to imagine the softly blue-lit foyer with
high ceilings, music playing: the Isis dance was just breathtaking. There
were other fantastic sword, stick and veil dances, but the most wonderful
thing was how they all enticed my father to dance for his big moment and
then my mother and then all the guests! (no mean task when the average age
was 80!).The atmosphere was buzzing, all too soon it was over. It was a
truly memorable night thanks to Shameena. Unforgettable.
